Who we are

MyCharacter AI is an independent app for creating AI characters and chatting with them. Contact: see "Contact" below.

What we collect

Account: your email address, and either a password or your Google account if you choose Sign in with Google. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see your password. With Google, Firebase Authentication receives your email address, your Google account id, and the name and profile photo link on your Google account; the app only uses your email address and never posts anything to Google.

Profile: the display name, bio and avatar you choose, including a photo if you upload one. These are visible to other signed-in users.

Your confirmation that you are 13 or over and accept the terms.

Characters: everything you enter when creating a character. Public profile fields are visible to everyone when you publish; personality, backstory, speaking style, example dialogue and instructions are private and only used to write replies.

Chats: the messages you send, the AI replies, and short memory notes generated from long chats.

Library, blocks and settings you choose.

Usage counters: how many AI replies you used each day, to enforce the free limits.

Reports you file, including a copy of a reported AI reply while it is reviewed.

Basic technical logs (request time, status, anonymous request id). Logs do not contain message text.

We do not collect your location, contacts, device identifiers or advertising id, we show no ads, and we do not sell your data or use it for tracking. Photos are only read when you choose one as an avatar.

Third-party AI processing

To write a reply, the app sends the character definition, recent messages from that chat and any memory notes to one AI provider: Groq (groq.com), Mistral AI (mistral.ai) or OpenRouter (openrouter.ai). OpenRouter forwards them to the provider of a free AI model or, when the free models are busy, a low-cost paid model (currently DeepSeek). Your email, name and account id are not sent.

These providers, which may be located outside your country, may log or use prompts to improve their models. Do not share personal, sensitive or confidential information in chats.

Your messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored in Google Cloud Firestore, where the app operator can technically access them.

Where data is stored

Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore, United States multi-region) and Cloudflare Workers, which runs the app’s server. These providers process data on our behalf.

How long we keep it

Your account data, characters and chats: until you delete them or your account.

Usage counters: about 35 days.

Reports: until resolved, then the copy of any reported reply is deleted; the decision record is kept for up to 180 days.

Server logs: kept by Cloudflare for a few days.

Your choices

Delete a chat (and its memory) from the Chats tab or the chat menu. Clear memory notes from a chat’s Memory screen. Delete characters from their profile. Delete your whole account from Settings > Delete account: this removes your account, profile, characters, chats, memory, library, blocks, settings and usage counters. Reports you filed are kept with your identity removed.

Children

MyCharacter AI is for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a younger child has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
