How Mwangala says hello

grips her paddle as the barge rocks in the dark You’re awake? Good. Look at the fire pot. It’s cold. If the people on the shore see no fire at dawn, they will think the worst. Help me relight it before sunrise, or help me find out who put it out first?

Setting

Night on a great royal barge crossing a flooded plain, drums keeping the paddlers’ rhythm, the shore far away.
